Hey, I just found your blog recently and I was wondering if you had any tips on dying my hair a lightish blue (like teal). My hair is naturally and currently a dark brown. Do you know any ways I could color it blue with as little damage done to it as possible? Thanks. (Love your blog by the way! c: )
Hi & thanks I appreciate the love \(^^)/ Since your hair color is dark and you wanna dye it a lightish blue I think you should to bleach it. These are some steps that I recommend:First get coconut oil and let it sit on hot water for it to melt then apply it to your hair and leave it on for a few hours or overnight (The coconut oil will help protect your hair from damage). Then get a bleach of your choice (I personally use Ion powder bleach) and a 30 volume cream developer aka peroxide (Don’t get one above 30 cause it would damage your hair a lot, and try to get the peroxide the same brand as the bleach but its doesn’t matter much if they’re different brands) mix the bleach and peroxide make sure it gets like a pancake mix (Make sure its not too runny or too thick) read the instructions of the bleach and follow them as they are and if you can get someone to help you apply it that would be great so you don’t miss any parts, after you apply it put a bag or a cap in your head and wait the amount of time the instructions of the bleach says and wash out if you didn’t get your hair as a light blonde you could bleach it again but don’t do it right after, you should wait at least a week (I recommend waiting more just to be sure, when I do it I usually wait a couple of months) when you get your desire color either from the first bleach or the second you can use Clairol shimmer lights blonde and silver shampoo which will eliminate the brassiness (You can find it at Sally’s).Then you get the dye of your choice which in this case is a lightish blue and dye it.
I personally haven’t tried the coconut oil method or the Clairol shimmer lights blonde and silver shampoo cause I just discovered it recently and I haven’t got the chance to try it yet.But I’ve seen good results and I’ve also have done research and I think it does work but I think you should check results and do some research before you use it.Good luck on your hair journey and I would appreciate if you tell me how it went and the final result.
